Battle of Calais – Book Launch

Launch of The Weekend Trippers is a new book about the real life story of one rifleman’s experience of the Battle of Calais 1940, his subsequent capture and his final journey home.

Field Marshal Lord Bramall has written the Foreword to the book and is expected to attend.

75% of the author royalties for each book sold will go to the Rifles Benevolent Trust.

Any surviving members of the Rifle Brigade, Kings Royal Rifle Corps, Queen Victoria Rifles, 3RTR, Royal Marines, Royal Navy or anyone else who had a connection with the Battle of Calais and living in the Winchester area are invited to attend.

Arrangements can be made for them to be picked up and returned home afterwards.

The date for the book launch and signing is Saturday 29 October 2011.

The venue is:

The Royal Green Jackets (Rifles) Museum,

Peninsula Barracks, Romsey Road, Winchester, Hants, SO23 8TS

and proceedings start at 10.30am.

There will be complimentary Tea/Coffee/Juice and light refreshments available and we will be supported on the day by members of The Rifles Living History Group
